Portrait of a Volunteer

How often do you volunteer? We're seeing a 30-year high in volunteering right now. That's great news. As a nation, we're more engaged than ever. Whether you're tutoring kids at the neighborhood school, collecting food for the local pantry, or cleaning up your favorite beach, we applaud you. But what does the average volunteer look like? We gathered a set of facts that begins to draw a picture of that neighborhood hero: the volunteer, and a handful of tips on how to mobilize your own army of good.

Cellphone Recycling

How many cell phones have you owned so far? And how many more do you think you will buy? For many people, these numbers are large. The lifespan of a new phone is short and many old phones end up in landfills or just sitting around in junk drawers. When it’s time for your next upgrade, consider helping the environment by recycling, and you may also help a person in desperate need of a phone get one of their own.
