What Does a Census Really Mean, and Why is It Important?

The Australian Bureau of Statistics put together an interactive movie called Spotlight, which helps its citizens understand the data a little better.

Spotlight takes some of the data from the last Census - conducted in 2006 - and turns it into a simple interactive movie, to show just a few of the interesting things that the Census can tell us about Australia's people and population.

Once you've explored Spotlight, you can create an infographic of your own (above is mine) - a personalised snapshot of your own (only for Australians) numbers that you can share with friends.

Cinemetrics

Cinemetrics is about measuring and visualizing movie data, in order to reveal the characteristics of films and to create a visual “fingerprint” for them. Information such as the editing structure, color, speech or motion are extracted, analyzed and transformed into graphic representations so that movies can be seen as a whole and easily interpreted or compared side by side.

What Is 'Source Code'

This infographic is about upcoming sci-fi action thriller Source Code, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan and Vera Farmiga. The film tells the story of a soldier who "wakes up in the body of an unknown man and discovers he's part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train".
